Day 12 – Marissa
Today is a lazy rest day. Spent the morning sleeping and the afternoon exploring the town. There’s not a lot here except the beach and some beautiful people strutting their stuff on the sand. Lots of tourist shops and restaurants, and an old fishing port, which was the only real part of town.

Putin’s brutal invasion in the Ukraine is effecting everyone globally. Even Sri Lankan graffiti says so. The locals have seen an immediate downturn in tourist numbers and there’s an air of uncertainty in the air.
That said, there’s some awesome wall art of you go for a wander west past the main beach and away from the crowds.

Went to a lovely pizza place for late lunch / breakfast and got offered weed. Again. It’s either being a tourist or having dreadlocks and everyone thinks you’re a stoner. Just to point out it was another customer offering, not the establishment.
More exploring then dinner on the beach with more slow service. My conclusion is that the busy tourist towns don’t push for service as much as the backwater places. I mean there’s laidback and just plain horizontal. But hey, that’s the way of beach life.
Afterwards, went to a beautiful bar Salt, full of beautiful people, with very chilled Ibiza vibes (got offered more weed). Got tipsy and made friends with Sandy the dog.
